John Dumelo Defeated, Ayawaso West Woguon Seat Retained by Lydia Alhassan

John Dumelo Defeated, Ayawaso West Woguon Seat Retained by Lydia Alhassan | The Ayawaso West Woguon Costituency seat was uncontested for over two decades, since the year 2000. In January 2019, Lydia Seyram Alhassan replaced her husband, the late Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko in parliament when she contested and won.

The death of Maa Lydia’s husband and her winning her husband’s seat to replace him in parliament and other incidents made this year’s Ayawaso West Woguon Constituency election very interesting to follow. There have been a to and from arguements on social media as to who will actually win the seat this time.

Many Ghanaians are more interested in the John Dumelo vs Maa Lydia results than Nana Addo vs John Mahama’s presidential results.

The constituency recorded a total of  over 105,297 registered voters in their voter register.  According to the provisional results released00, the NPP’s Lydia Alhassan had 39,851 votes while NDC’s John Dumelo came in second with 37,778 with a different of 2073 votes.

John Dumelo’s earlier Twitter post had also indicated that; “We are still waiting for the Electoral Commission to declare the final results.”

From this projection, the campaign for John Setor Dumelo has ended on an unfortunate note – a loss which came within the EC’s stipulated 24-hour deadline.

The PNC’s candidate got 160 while an independent candidate secured 108 votes with 595 invalid votes.
